SQLyog MySQL GUI 9.1 beta 1 Released

peter_laursen

Changes (as compared to 9.02) include:

Features:
* Data Search (that was introduced in 9.0 beta but removed in 9.0 GA) is back. We have added an option to search on global/server level and an option to use regular expressions for search.
* Quite a lot of dialogs have been made resizable. This includes ‘Reorder Columns’, ‘Copy Table’, ‘Add Favorites’, ‘Organize Favorites’, ‘Export as SQL Dump’, ‘Export As (CSV/html/…)’, ‘Table Diagnostics’ and ‘Copy Database’. Those left that are not resizable now are either those where it would not make sense and some that will very soon be replaced with another interface.
* Redesigned the ‘advanced’ option in Import External Data tool.

Bug fixes:
* The ‘Job manager’ could fail to add jobs from the SJA wizards. This bug was introduced in 8.8.
* Import External Data  could fail to display all columns of target table when importing from a source containing lesser columns than target.
* In TEXT mode the last row of data could fail to display if it contained a NULL value.
* Export (to various formats) could cause SQLyog to ‘hang’ with tables with 500+ columns.
* In ‘export as Excel XML’ it was possible to enter alphabetics for numerical parameters and the result of the export was unpredictable.
* In ‘Import External Data .. advanced’ the complete job would abort even if user had only specified an abort condition for a single table. Also when the table was not present in the target and abort option was selected only the table structure was created and no data were imported. These bugs were introduced in 9.0.
* In ‘edit’ menu the shortcut to ‘execute query’ was always displayed as F5 irrespective of user setting.  This is a regression introduced in 9.0.

Miscellaneous:
* When opening SQLyog will now only display a Query tab (and no Query Builder or Schema Designer tab as before).

MONyog MySQL Monitor 4.6 beta 1 Has Been Released

peter_laursen

Changes (as compared to 4.51) include:

Features:
* MONyog is now bundled with a bunch of useful dashboard charts which can be enabled/disabled from the ‘manage dashboard charts’ in the Dashboard page. Users will not need to write any Javascript to enable those.
* Added an option to ‘Alert on change in server configuration’. These alerts in the form of emails and/or SNMP traps are sent by MONyog whenever MONyog detects a change in the server variables using SET GLOBAL statements or in the MySQL configuration file.

Bug fixes:
* GUI fixes, including an issue where clicking a ‘next’-link in the ‘register server’ page did nothing..

MONyog MySQL Monitor 4.51 Has Been Released

peter_laursen

Please note that when upgrading from a version previous to 4.5  to this one, it is required that MONyog detects the replication topology of registered servers before the ‘registered servers’ page can display. This may take a few minutes with a large number of registered servers. Please be patient for as long. Note that this delay will only happen once.

Changes (as compared to 4.5) include:

Features:
* This release focuses on improving performance of the MONyog built-in HTTP daemon. You will find up to 10 times performance improvements for most MONyog pages. This has been achieved by internal code optimizations, use of compression (if browser supports) and minification/optimization of HTML, Javascript, CSS and graphics.

Bug fixes:
* Prepared statements were not handled properly by the Query Analyzer.
* Events (as introduced in 4.5) stored in the MONyog embedded database did not purge as specified in  the ‘retention timeframe’ setting.
* Charts could display decimal numbers with a large number of decimals that made no sense and made charts less readable. We now round to 3 decimals.

MONyog 4.5 GA – Events, Auto-register of slaves & much more…

Chirag

Hi,

We are delighted to announce the release of MONyog 4.5. Listed below are some noteworthy features:

  • You did get to know about what needs attention in Monitors/Advisors, but how about looking at all the alerts that need attention grouped on their severity for a certain period? This is what event is all about. An event occurs when the status of a counter changes. Keep your events tab open & you see MONyog alerting you – may it be “server availability” or “replication failure” or many other umpteen things that need attention.
  • Many a times, MONyog shows an alert to bring your attention, but you are OK with that & don’t want to fix it. Just close the event & it will appear only when it becomes alert-able again. This is a nice way to accept & dismiss events, so that you can start with a clean slate with a baseline for normal acitivity for that instance.
  • This one is a real time saver. You register a master & MONyog automatically registers all its slaves. If there are recursive slaves, well yes, they are auto-registered too. This feature is smart to indent slaves according to the hierarchy in the list of servers page. Note that MONyog assumes MySQL (port, username & password) and the SSH details of the slaves are same as that of its master. Once registered, you can edit connection details of slaves if it is different from master & get them monitored by MONyog.
  • Long locked queries can cause havoc. With this release you can get alerted whenever a query results in longer locks. You can also ask MONyog to kill long locked queries as and when it happens. These options are present in process-list based sniffer.
  • Groups of counters in Monitors/Advisors can now be enabled or disabled for a specific server. Before this release enabling/disabling affected all servers that are being monitored.

This release also contains many more enhancements & bug fixes. Refer the following release notes for details:
