The latest implementation (5.14 RC) of check for correct tunnel file also displays the 'tunnel file mismatch error' in case a non-existent file is specified on the Connection Manager Tunnel Tab. In this situation it should display (as before) 'Could not connect to the tunnelling URL'.
Try the URL 'http:/...../SQLyogTunneldontexist.php' for instance ...
