Im using ubuntu and Wine - it works great until I exit at which point it crashes and shuts down.

Its leaving dump files in its directory - should I be passing these onto anyone here?

Also, does anyone know how to add SqlYog to the Ubuntu menu? wine is there and lots of other SQLYog links - just not the main application SqlYogEnt.exe
peterlaursen
we cannot use the crash dump from a Wine/Linux install unfortunately! The Visual Studio version we are using won't run on Wine!

I don't know Ubuntu, but with KDE on Fedora and SuSE you right-click in the menu area and add an entry 'wine SQLyog.exe'.
But I think Ubuntu desktop is based on GNOME?

Thanks,

I got that far with the menu(right click - add menu item) - and it adds the icon, path etc - it just wont run SqlYog. Oh well - I'll figure it out eventually smile.gif

As far as the crashes - its only when I have been editing a database.

I always get what I need doing done, so its not a real problem - but if I can help you squash the bug please let me know how.

SQLYog is fantastic by the way smile.gif

I solved the launcher issue. It was because the path to SQLYogEnt.exe had spaces - so needd to include the path within quotes "

I created a yog.sh file in my home directory with the following ...

CODE
cd "/home/username/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/SQLyog Enterprise"
wine SQLYogEnt.exe

chmod a+x yog.sh

Right click on menu bar > Edit Menu

Then click 'New Item' the dialog box might popup behind the window your in.

Then browse and add your yog.sh

ok .. let us get back to the 'crash on exit' issue.

I have experienced that with previous versions with SuSE 10.0 too. Now I always update both SQLyog and Wine when a new version of either gets available and I cannot remember exactly what combination of program versions it was.

What is your Wine version? (console command 'wine --version' tells!) ?

MySQL Server version: 5.0.38-Ubuntu_0ubuntu1-log Ubuntu 7.04 distribution

tony@tony-laptop:~$ uname -a
Linux tony-laptop 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

tony@tony-laptop:~$ wine --version
wine-0.9.35

It only ever crashes after I have connected to a database - if I haven't then sqlyog exits fine.
peterlaursen
If you open more connections will it then crash if you close one of the connections?
peterlaursen
issue is confirmed!

We will try to 'push in' a fix for this next week.

I recently changed to Fedora Linux and used wine for 6.03 Enterprise having problems. After upgrading to 6.05, problem solved too! Awesome! I have tried other MySQL client for Windows and Linux, nothing comes close to SQLyog, keep up the good work!

I can't download files, I'm using Ubuntu... With wine...

The 6.05 betas were deleted from the server when 6.05 FINAL was released. So just download from the normal download page.
