I'm using vista and created some backup files in the default folder. I didn't know they are "special" files and I cannot see them in my Vista file manager. I want my Carbonite backup software to back up these files so I moved them to a different folder where I can see them and tag them for backup.
My question now is: how can I delete the old backup files in the default folder when I can't see them in my file manager? I have view hidden files enabled but I still can't see them.
Thanks...

I think this is not database/MySQL/SQLyog related??
This seems to be a question about the Vista backup utility?

Sorry I wasn't clear in my first post.
SQLyog created some DB backup files in its default folder: SQLyog Community. But when I open my Vista file manager I cannot see these backup files. In SQLyog when I select to restore those files are there to select from within SQLyog.
I'm thinking when SQLyog creates the backup file, it tags it in some special way. I was hoping to learn what SQLyog does to its backup file to help me determine how I can see it and then delete it. Right now I can't delete the backup SQL file SQLyog creates.

Try to (might be temporarily) to turn 'user account control' OFF (from control panel .. user accounts).
In Vista non-admin users have restricted acces to the \program files folder tree. SQLyog does nothing special .. it is Vista that does!
What is your SQLyog version?
Actually SQLyog has no 'default folder' for where to store dumps and other user-generated files. It stores the setting last used. But what it does first time, I am not sure and it might depend on the version!

I'm using the Community Edition v6.16

OK .. we should probably use/propose Appdata folder for the *first* save.
But this is not a SQLyog issue. It is your Vista settings that prevents you to acces the files from Explorer.
Did you try disabling 'User Account Control' ?

My User Account Control is already off.
I've posted this issue over at a Vista Forum so maybe they will know what's going on.
Thanks for the help...

Vista Forum solved the issue:
Look in c:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\
That's where the files were and I could see them in Vista Explorer and deleted the ones I needed to get rid of.

\VirtualStore\ folder is used/created by Vista for users when they try to write to /program files folder tree but do not have write access there (because UAC is OFF).
