Full Version: Moving Sqlyog
Webyog Forums > SQLyog > Using SQLyog

I have the single user version of the enterprise edition of SQLyog. I have a need to migrate the program from my desktop to my notebook. However, after doing so, I find I'm not able to access the database on the server - immediately after trying to connect via tunneling, I get the following error:

Error No 1
HTTP Error: Could not connect to tunneling URL.

I have tried uninstalling, including clearing out every remnant (I think) of the program from the files and Windows registry. But when I reinstall, it still remembers my registration name, and does not ask me to register. This is a bit surprising - how does it know me? How can I re-enter the registration?

Can anyone tell me how I can correct this problem? Must I remove totally from my desktop first (it still works fine there)? How?

1)
no - you will not need to remove. The instance on the Laptop has no 'knowledge' about where else it is installed.

2)
it does not prompt for registration details. It rememebers you. Well .. what is the problem then?
But did you use some kine of 'clone'/ program to migrate you old system settings to the new Laptop? (like Windows 'transfer settings' utility)?

3)
the PROBLEM is I think this

This is *not at all* related to registration issues. Are you sure that the URL is correct? First verify that *exactly the same details* work from the old computer. Also try connecting to the tunneller in a browser. You may copy the sqlyog.ini file from the old computer - that will migrate all settings including connections.

"I have a need to migrate the program from my desktop to my notebook". How did you? Did you install it?

Anyway .. please check the URL. One posibility is that a LAN-ip or a 'name server alias' is used on the old machine that is not available for your Laptop.

I managed to solve the problem by downloading and installing the free Community version of SQLyog, then removing this, and reinstalling the Enterprise version. I assume this cleaned something out. Note: I did not change anything in the settings. Indeed, I had previously copied the sqlyog.ini file as suggested, but this did not solve the problem. So, sorry, it does appear that this IS a registration issue...

This seems to be confirmed by the FAQ ID #1089 "What happens to my Windows installation when I register SQLyog?", which seems to suggest that if something gets corrupted in the KEYGEN, then it will create a problem which is still on the TO-DO list.

Computers have a mind of their own!
