I am afraid I do not understand!

Actually 'localhost' is only an alias for the ip '127.0.0.1'. In both MONyog and SQLyog you can enter both as 'host' for a connection (with the small detail that actually in some rare situations with SQLyog and HTTP-tunnelling 'localhost' does not work!)

Sometimes you may also enter your LAN ip or the global ip (as returned by 'ipconfig' command). But not all routers and similar networking devices (and not all ISP's either) allow for such 'backlooping' (for security reasons).

Was this the explanation you were looking for or not?

If not .. please explain more in detail:
* WHAT do you want to do and WHY? 10 words won't explain .. use 100 or 200 instead! We do not charge for words :-)
* And are you talking about MONyog setup, SQLyog connection or is it a general question??
* How is your networking setup? A LAN, a single home computer? Connected to the Internet and how..??
